"Some Posters And/Or Photos, But Now With Frames!"

"The Path to Adulthood Is Paved With Hot Glue and Moderately-Priced IKEA Furniture." true it hurts.

Design*Sponge is one of my favorite blogs about design. They've always got great posts on colorful prints, captivating objects, and inventive home furnishings, like this wallpaper from Walnut Wallpaper.

More Mueck

I can't get enough of Ron Mueck's work today. Something about the hyperrealism of his sculptures coupled with the surrealism of their presentation (larger-than-life boys, disembodied heads and faces, tiny elderly women) is completely captivating. Check out more galleries of his work here , here, and here.

BIG Face

The art of Ron Mueck is at once both ultrarealistic and otherworldly surreal.

Frakking Toasters

This is likely to be the first of many posts about Battlestar Galactica, my favorite television show at the moment. There's a new episode on tonight - "A Measure of Salvation" - which I'm very excited about. Tonight's show will continue to explore the newly revealed, deadly Cylon virus. I'm also hoping that we will get some more glimpses of Cylon life aboard the Basestar where Baltar is being held captive. Good stuff.

I'll try and have a review up of the episode sometime next week as well as a list of the reasons why Battlestar is the best serialized drama (sci-fi or otherwise) on TV right now. And, let's face it, there are a lot of serialized dramas on TV. Seriously, folks. It's even better than LOST.

La La La La La

This video for I'm From Barcelona's song "We're From Barcelona" (confusing?) is one of my favorite things at the moment:

I mean, how does that not make you smile?

Halloween in Seattle

My very talented friend Lars made a short film on his night out in Seattle on Halloween. Watch what happens when he asks people to act like the costumes they are wearing.

"Six word story," he blogged, glibly.

Someone set up a six word story photo set on Flickr! My favorite is the one about Jumbo the elephant. Like the Wired story I wrote about yesterday, the Flickr set is inspired by Hemingway's famous six word story:

"For Sale: Baby Shoes. Never Worn."

Hemingway's story is an example of flash fiction, a sub-genre of the short story.

"Batman Sues Batsignal: Demands Trademark Royalties."

Six word story contest!

"We're the good guys."

Michael Emerson, who plays Henry Gale/Benjamin Linus on LOST, can pull off creepy, calculating bad-guy pretty well. Great little article on him in the NY Times today. He's become one of my favorite actors on the show. Here's to hoping they don't kill him off tonight in the end of this six-episode "mini season."
